In 2016, the French Basque trio Kalakan (Xan Errotabehere, Jamixel Bereau, Pierre Sangla) and the Basque-Italian duo L’Incontro (Itziar Lujanbio, Francesca Romana Di Nicola) create the Lamin project, as an exchange and contamination between their worlds, between classical and traditional music of their countries.
This collaboration, which also leads to the creation of a cd recording, gives rise to the union of traditional Basque music and baroque music, between Italian texts and Basque poems. Lamin is the Basque term for palmiped female spirits who, according to Basque mythology lived near water springs.
The percussion, alboka, txalaparta and voices of the trio Kalakan, in deep connection with the elements of nature, mingle with the harp and the oboe of duo L’Incontro, creating a delicate and suggestive fusion of two musical universes.
